SUMMER SCHOOL HMS usually offers summer school for 10 to 12 days after school is out in May.  Summer school attendance is required for any student who earns a D- or F on any trimester report card.  Required students who choose not to attend summer school may be asked to return to their home district for the following school year.  Required students who choose not to attend can also be placed on first trimester activity restriction.  Students who are recommended by a teacher to attend summer school are not required; however, the teacher has recommended a student because he/she feels it would be beneficial to the student’s academic progress for the following year.

AFTER SCHOOL INTERVENTIONS/ENRICHMENTS

Many grade levels provide their own academic intervention programs after school to help students who are struggling in Mathematics and English Language Arts. If a teacher recommends intervention for your child, the intervention is mandatory.  Attendance must be consistent and performance must be satisfactory.  If a student does not regularly attend a required intervention, then he/she may be requested to return to his/her home district, per the Master Agreement. Hickman Elementary School is implementing an afterschool enrichment program taught by our staff.  The purpose of these activities is to provide students with new experiences outside of the regular school day.

HOMEWORK CLUB  Homework Club is held several days a week after school to help students complete missing class work or  to keep  up-to-date on homework assignments.   Teachers refer students to homework club when they are having a difficult time completing homework at home.
